Dallas Ranks No. 3 in America for Female Business Founders

We already know that Dallas is a pretty great place for entrepreneurs. But a new Forbes study says our fair city is especially inviting for female business founders. Forbes ranks Dallas as the No. 3 city in America for women who want to start their own companies.

The "Best Cities for Female Founders" list features 15 U.S. locales in states spanning New York to California. Dallas' high ranking was bolstered by $31.6 million
in revenue for 2011-2012 and a whopping 47.8 percent growth of female-owned business from 1997 to 2012.

Big D trails only No. 1 New York and No. 2 Houston in women business power. Texas has the most cities on the list, with San Antonio also making the cut at No. 15.

Forbes listed a few impressive statistics backing up Houston's female founders' clout. From 1997 to 2012, the number of women-owned firms in Houston grew by 42.4 percent. Also, there are 167,300 businesses owned by women in the Bayou City.
